The Ethos of the Workshops

The classes are designed to focus on the creative process and the act of writing and are for writers of all abilities who want to be challenged, make use of all their senses, push boundaries and take creative risks.
These sessions aim to unlock the creative potential and reconnect participants with their creative self using a wide variety of stimulating exercises.

The workshops explore the act of writing using inspiring tools and innovative methods to work from, such as: music, found objects, images and using texts of works by other published writers. The classes will vary in theme each time, ensuring a vibrant and interesting selection of activities to inspire and coax the writer in all.

The courses encourage the shared experience of writing and the creative journey. Students will also be invited to read and provide constructive feedback and advice on the work of other group members. The classes aim to provide a supportive and encouraging environment where members will help each other to gain confidence and fully reach their creative potential and desired goals.

'Rebecca Parfitt is an attentive and supportive teacher, mindful of her students’ welfare and focused on nurturing their development as writers. The classes are well researched and rigorously prepared, each individual lesson building to create a well-structured course. Rebecca’s classes, which often exploit visual imagery and artefacts, are stimulating and unthreatening. Students are encouraged to be imaginative, to ‘play’ with ideas and memory, to be self-reflective and to relish and exploit the intricacies of language. As a teacher, Rebecca creates a safe space for thoughtful and rich writing.'
